Omani state-owned company, Hydrom, has signed an agreement with Ankaa Space & Technologies LLC to oversee wind data collection in Oman’s green hydrogen push that has become the envy of the energy sector. The global energy sector is fostering the cooperative narrative that calls for more prominence to be placed on the renewable energy sector. For far too long, the world has relied on the fossil fuel sector to deliver essential energy to meet rising electricity demand. Oman is aiming to become a regional leader in the renewable energy sector through this collaboration.

Hydrom is attempting to expand on Oman’s green hydrogen strategy as the nation embraces wind power

Oman is among the oil-rich nations in the region aiming to shift the local energy sector towards the potential of wind power. The region has become the epicenter of the global energy industry over the past decades.

The Omani government has welcomed the global calls for the energy sector to develop innovative projects that increase the propensity for renewable energy. Hydrom has signed an agreement with Ankaa Space & Technologies to strengthen the accuracy and continuity of renewable resource assessments in Oman.

The aim of the agreement would be to deliver high-quality data that underscores project planning and fast-tracks the development of large-scale renewable energy projects across the Sultanate.

The deal underpins the commitment that Hydrom has to building a delivery-ready green hydrogen ecosystem in Oman through effective and exact wind measurements in the energy sector. Oman’s Vision 2040 calls for economic diversification through sustainable projects that strengthen local expertise and develop essential knowledge throughout the nation.

“This agreement marks a key step in engaging Omani enterprises and specialized talent in the delivery of green hydrogen projects. Hydrom will extend technical guidance to Ankaa, develop work plans, and implement training programs that enable Omani professionals to gain hands-on experience in wind and solar resource measurement, station operations, and data management. These efforts strengthen Oman’s capacity to localize critical technologies and advance projects toward bankable outcomes.” – Abdulaziz bin Said Al Shidhani, Managing Director of Hydrom

Through this collaboration, Hydrom continues to build an integrated and sustainable value chain in Oman

The collaboration underscores the commitment that Oman has to developing a structured, investment-ready ecosystem. Oman is aiming to become a trusted regional supplier of green hydrogen as the sector gains momentum across the global energy sector.

The deal further underscores the nation’s shift toward hybrid wind-solar-storage mega projects. The agreement enables Omani talent to develop expertise that could serve the nation for generations as the renewable energy sector becomes the norm across the globe.

The heads of the company involved released a statement noting their commitment to developing the region into a global leader in the energy sector that the rest of the world can look to as a prime example of how to complete the transition away from fossil fuels.

“We are committed to executing this agreement to the highest standards and to building national capabilities in renewable resource measurement and land study technologies. Partnering with Hydrom provides a model of effective public–private collaboration that supports Oman’s vision to localize value chains and develop specialized national expertise in this vital sector.” – Mohammed Al Riyami, Chief Executive Officer of Ankaa Space & Technologies

The global energy industry has embraced the potential of wind power across the board

The news that Oman has signed a deal to accurately measure wind data in its hydrogen sector aligns with the current trend emerging out of the energy sector. Several nations across the world have developed innovative solutions that meet the rise in energy demand, with Egypt finishing Africa’s biggest wind farm ahead of schedule. Oman has positioned itself to become a regional leader in the adoption and implementation of the renewable energy sector as the global transition accelerates.
