As the world slowly embraces the renewable energy sector, markets around the world are shifting to the untapped power that the sector has stored away in abundance. The United States, however, has not embraced the wind power sector as the rest of the world has, and now a major energy analyst has created a new, first-ever, wind sentiment roadmap for the US wind sector that reveals the level of acceptance and adoption of the wind power sector in America. President Trump has, on many occasions, expressed his disdain for wind power, leading to several states stagnating in adopting the industry.

Learnewable has released the first-ever wind power sentiment roadmap

Amid the boom of the renewable energy sector, wind power stands head and shoulders above solar and nuclear power as the cheapest and most practical form of clean energy. However, that truth has not reached the United States, as it has not embraced the wind power sector like the rest of the world has. To get to the bottom of the issue, Learnewable has released the first-ever wind sentiment roadmap that clearly defines which states have a proclivity for wind power.

President Trump has labeled wind power as a scam; his reasoning and logic are not exactly clear, but the reality remains the same, as most US states have not embraced the wind power sector. Learnewable has outlined a potential map that details which states are open to the sector and which align more closely with the President’s sentiment.

Learnewable’s wind power ranking has split the US energy sector into two

While some US states align with the current administration’s perception of the wind power sector, some have strayed away from the President’s sentiment and have seen wind power generation increasing in their regions. The data was compiled by reaching into the state’s public records, as well as being refined after reports from wind power operators.

Several states top the list, which has shifted the focus towards the wind power industry in the US

Learnewable’s report has drawn on data from more than 3,000 counties across the length and breadth of the United States. The Wind Energy Sentiment & Permitting Risk Map combines reported community attitudes and regulatory approaches to the wind sector to establish a state-by-state index for the sector to peruse.

The report states that it has distinguished between positive and negative sentiments across the US, with some surprises over which states have embraced the wind power sector. The list ranks states’ sentiment from positive to negative, which are:

  • New Mexico
  • Texas
  • Minnesota
  • Alaska
  • Montana
  • Oklahoma
  • North Dakota
  • Illinois
  • Utah

The findings were driven by Learnewable’s AI data collection, known as the Site Scout system. The data reveals that New Mexico and Texas are steering clear of the sentiment of the President and have embraced wind power with open arms. The system draws on public records, news sources, and regional zoning policies to establish a roadmap for the wind power sector in the US. Wind power could potentially save the US billions in operating costs if the nation finally embraces the industry.

The American perception of the wind power sector is not shared by Europe

While America’s perception of the wind power sector is a cause for concern, that sentiment is not shared by the European continent, which saw 11.3 GW of new wind turbine orders in the first half of 2025. The Learnewable wind power roadmap does point to the fact that many US states are shifting their focus towards the wind power sector as the industry gains momentum, despite the President’s disdain for the sector. America needs to do more to change public opinion and develop the wind power sector to align with international standards.
