NANO Nuclear signs three-year engineering pact for KRONOS microreactor components
2026 has been a record-breaking year in the nuclear and clean energy sector in general, considering the number of massive projects that managed to materialize. Now, as the year is coming to an end, companies are looking to finalize deals and carry on their momentum into the new year to ensure that they capitalize on the current state of the industry because there are no guarantees that it will continue to thrive as it is at the moment. There is also an increased number of investors and companies operating outside the energy sector that are looking to generate revenue by involving themselves in massive initiatives. Recently, one of the most recognizable companies, NANO Nuclear, signed a three-year engineering pact for KRONOS microreactor components.
NANO Nuclear Energy maintains momentum following a historic 2026
NANO Nuclear Energy is a North American advanced technology-driven nuclear energy company that is aiming to become commercially focused, diversified, and vertically integrated across five business lines. These include: cutting-edge portable and other microreactor technologies, nuclear fuel supply chain, nuclear fuel transportation, nuclear applications for space, and nuclear industry consulting services.
The company is currently led by a world-class engineering team, which leads industry experts to believe that it will be at the forefront of shaping the future energy generation strategies in nuclear not just in the United States but worldwide too.
The company’s longevity shows how much it has been able to adapt to the latest energy generation strategies instead of remaining stuck with traditional strategies.
Advancing the nuclear sector: NANO Nuclear signs three-year engineering pact for KRONOS microreactor
A press release from NANO Nuclear Company announced that the company has taken another massive stride by entering into an Engineering Services Master Agreement (ESMA) with the U.S. subsidiary of IMPSA, one of Argentina’s leading engineering, design-for-manufacture, and potential future fabrication of critical components for NANO Nuclear’s MMR Energy System.
Companies are now aware that when they reach collaborative agreements instead of pursuing projects individually, they stand a greater chance of achieving success because of the ability that they have to share the responsibilities involved in projects. IMPSA is a company with more than 115 years of experience across multiple industries, specializing in the design and manufacturing of major components for nuclear power plants and in providing engineering equipment and services that guarantee high levels of safety and performance.
The company’s longevity shows how much it has been able to adapt to the latest energy generation strategies instead of remaining stuck with traditional strategies. For more than 40 years, IMPSA has played an active role in the Argentine nuclear industry’s most standout projects and challenges, combining expertise in manufacturing, engineering, and technological innovation.
Delving deeper into NANO Nuclear Energy’s Engineering Services Master Agreement (ESMA)
The three-year agreement establishes a framework for NANO Nuclear to use IMPSA’s extensive experience in nuclear pressure vessels, ASME Section 3 manufacturing, welding, non-destructive examination, quality assurance and heavy-component fabrication as the KRONOS MMR design progresses toward manufacturing readiness.
The reactor pressure vessel is seen as a principal reactor component under evaluation by IMPSA. The parties have separately identified reactor cavity cooling systems, spent-fuel storage systems, and additional reactor and transportation components as extra areas of potential collaboration.
Can NANO Nuclear Energy and IMPSA establish a lengthy partnership?
Companies that enter long-term agreements usually become aware early that they are able to complement each other perfectly, meaning they can execute more projects in the future. Under the ESMA, NANO and IMPSA are starting with a dedicated KRONOS MMR Design Review Assessment-Engineering Consulting and Manufacturability Feasibility Study.
The initial program provides for an estimated six-month period, supported by a retainer. IMPSA’s work is expected to include an independent review of KRONOS MMR.
NANO’s reactor products include the proprietary Kronos MMR Energy System. This includes a stationary high-temperature gas-cooled reactor that is in construction permit pre-application engagement with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in partnership with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, ZEUS, a portable solid core battery reactor, and the space-focused LOKI MMR, each representing advanced developments in clean energy solutions.
