As the nation’s energy mix moves deeper into this transformation, the speed of change continues to outpace popular awareness. The massive backlog of commercial and utility developments guarantees that solar will claim an ever-larger share of United States electricity generation throughout the decade.

Today, installed solar capacity across the country has officially crossed a breathtaking threshold: it is now capable of powering approximately 50 million American homes.
