Columbia Gulf Submits Cameron Access Application

Columbia Gulf Transmission in March filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for a certificate of public convenience and necessity to construct, own and operate two natural gas pipeline segments totaling approximately 34 miles and compression facilities in Jefferson Davis, Cameron, and Calcasieu Parishes in Louisiana. Together, the pipeline and compression facilities are called the Cameron Access Project.

In its application, Columbia Gulf proposed construction of approximately 6.8 miles of 30-inch diameter natural gas pipeline loop, designated West Lateral 400 Loop,

in Jefferson Parish; approximately 27.3 miles of 36-ich diameter natural gas pipeline segment in Jefferson Davis, Cameron, and Calcasieu Parishes; and appurtenant facilities.

The company also proposed construct of a 12,260 horsepower compressor station, called Lake Arthur Compressor Station, in Jefferson Davis Parish. Columbia Gulf said that the proposed project is in response to new market demands and required alterations in the direction of gas flow.

The Cameron Access Project will create additional incremental capacity of up to 800 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d). Columbia Gulf said it has entered into binding precedent agreements with shippers providing the transportation of up to 700 MMcf/d of natural gas.

Columbia Gulf estimated that the project would cost $309.9 million. In addition, the company proposed an in-service date of December 2017 for the project.
