FERC Releases Environmental Assessment on Northern Supply Access Project

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Feb. 3 released an environmental assessment for the Northern Supply Access Project, which was proposed by Texas Gas Transmission, LLC.

Texas Gas Transmission has requested authorization for the construction and operation of natural gas facilities to be located in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana. This proposed project is an effort to add an additional 384,000 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas in north to south transportation capacity on Texas Gas Transmission’s existing system.

The Northern Supply Access Project will need to remain in accordance with the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act, as the environmental assessment over the project will weigh the potential environmental effects of the construction and operation of the project as a whole.

FERC has ultimately concluded that, “the approval of the proposed project, with appropriate mitigating measures, would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment,” FERC said in a report.

Texas Gas Transmission’s Northern Supply Access Project will involve the construction of a new 23,877 horsepower compressor station in Hamilton County, Ohio.

As well as modifications to eight existing compressor stations in the following locations:

  • Morehouse Parish, La.
  • Coahoma County, Miss.
  • Tipton County, Tenn.
  • Webster, Breckinridge, and Jefferson Counties, Ky.
  • Lawrence and Dearborn Counties, Ind.
