The controversial Black Fin Pipeline is moving closer to a start-up as the astonishing expansion of the US midstream energy sector gains momentum. The United States has seen unprecedented growth across its conventional oil and gas sector in recent months, thanks in no small part to the new directive issued by the Trump administration aimed at increasing oil and gas production.

The Black Fin Pipeline stands at the precipice of the US oil and gas market

The development of the Black Fin Pipeline comes as the United States is dramatically increasing output capacity in the oil and gas markets. Since taking office for his second term, Donald Trump has implemented a new directive aimed at increasing the oil and gas production market in the US.

The Black Fin Pipeline will consist of a 193-mile intrastate pipeline specifically designed to move 3.5 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas from its base in Colorado County to Jasper County in East Texas. The Permian Basin is of vital importance to the US oil and gas markets and has seen a multitude of energy companies developing new pipelines in the region.

The development of the Black Fin Pipeline has been a driver of growth for the US market as energy companies aim to take full advantage of the new approach to oil and gas production under the current administration. The growth of the US market has transformed the nation into the world’s top oil and gas producer, overtaking China by a long shot.

“By helping promote the uninterrupted transportation of American-produced natural gas, the Blackfin Pipeline strengthens our nation’s energy security and reduces dependence on foreign energy sources. Reliable access to abundant domestic energy supports American jobs, bolsters economic growth, and reinforces the United States’ position as a global energy leader.” – Black Fin Pipeline managment

The project has raised concerns with locals and businesses alike

While the tremendous growth of the US oil and gas market has boosted the standing of the nation across the international oil and gas supply chain, locals have raised some serious concerns over the placement of the compressor station, which, under normal circumstances, should be installed in an empty space, away from the city center.

Sarah Bartholet Gwin, a local business owner whose shop is relatively close to the intended location for the compressor station, has filed a lawsuit with the local courts to force the Black Fin Pipeline management to reconsider and possibly relocate the compressor station.

“My family has owned and operated Bartholet Home Furnishings for over 22 years and has been part of the furniture industry in Conroe for nearly 60 years,” said Gwin. “That’s why I feel a moral obligation to speak out about an industrial project that we believe could have serious consequences for the health, safety, and livability of our community.” – Sarah Bartholet Gwin, a local business owner

The astonishing growth of the US oil and gas market has seen a multitude of energy companies developing new pipelines that will dramatically increase the output capacity in the US market. The Black Fin Pipeline is just the latest in a long line of pipelines that will forever alter the perception of US-based energy production.

More pipelines are on the cards in the United States this year

While the Black Fin Pipeline faces some legal hurdles to navigate, several other energy companies in the US have been developing new pipelines and upgrades to existing ones, as the US is now the world’s top oil and gas producer. The Hugh Brinson Pipeline, which is being developed by Energy Transfer, is now moving ahead this year and hopes to reach commissioning in the near future.
