Two lawyers directly connected to the US President Donald Trump have been assessing a possible $200 million pipeline project in the European nation of Bosnia. Several officials who have ties to the President have been mixing business with geopolitics in recent years, raising concerns over potential conflicts of interest across several developments and projects. The latest European pipeline in Bosnia aims to provide a platform for the nation to gradually wean off the Russian energy that Bosnia has relied on for decades.
Trump’s circle of lawyers has been representing a new company that aims to secure the contract in Bosnia
Jesse Binnall, a lawyer who worked alongside the President to advance legal actions to overturn the 2020 election, and Joe Flynn, another laywer who was part of the team that tried to take legal action over the 2020 election loss for Trump, have been in Bosnia recently representing a new company that is aiming to secure the contract for a new Bosnia gas pipeline that could end the nation’s ties with Putin’s government.
The almost immediate elimination of Russian energy resources flowing into Europe has devastated the Russian economy, with independent reports stating that long lines are forming around Russian gasoline stations and shops as the economy feels the significant pressure from the international community and its sanctions.
The Southern Gas Interconnection pipeline will provide an alternative energy source for Bosnia
The pipeline will assist Bosnia in curbing the generational reliance on Russian energy. With an expected cost of around $200 million, the two Trump lawyers are aiming to win the contract for the newly created AAFS Infrastructure and Energy company. The pair of Trump-linked lawyers has been meeting with government officials to attempt to secure the contract to construct the gas pipeline.
“The Southern Interconnection is an important project with the potential to strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina’s energy security and reduce regional dependence on Russian gas, and AAFS is excited about the opportunity to explore how American private capital and expertise might contribute,” – Jesse Binnall
Bosnia and Herzegovina is finally ending the flow of Russian energy into the nation
Following the invasion by Russia into Ukraine in 2022, the vast majority of European nations imposed sanctions on Russia and its energy firms. Despite the valiant efforts of Europe, Bosnia and Herzegovina remained a lifeline for Putin and his government. The proposed US-led Southern Gas Interconnection pipeline concept was committed to by Bosnian officials once Trump won his second term in office last year.
With Serbia and Hungary preparing to build a new pipeline for Russian oil, the list of nations still willing to do business with Moscow is getting shorter by the day.
After Trump’s election win, Bosnia agreed to allow US companies to construct and operate the gas pipeline. This has subsequently led to Binnall and Flynn heading to Sarajevo to discuss the contract to build the pipeline. While discussions are ongoing, both lawyers stated that the deal has not been closed as of yet.
Records reveal that AAFS Infrastructure and Energy was created only a few short months ago in Wyoming and has no track record to speak of. Despite not listing any employees on its website, the company claims they have “decades of combined experience across energy, infrastructure, finance, and international project development”.
Can the two Trump lawyers successfully secure the contract for the new pipeline
That would be the question that needs answering. As the United States is now the number one gas producer by capacity in the world, one can understand the relevant experience that the pair of lawyers states that the newly created company has in spades. The US is currently working on several gas pipelines that will boost its already impressive domestic gas market, and the potential of a Bosnian pipeline has become all too clear for the US.
