BP plc and professional services firm Worley have formed a global strategic alliance across BP’s site projects, focusing on efficiency, continuous improvement and value creation.

Saving an initial estimated $40 million over two years, the alliance will improve capital efficiency in site projects where Worley holds service contracts. The locations include the Gulf of Mexico, Oman, Mauritania and Senegal oil and gas producing regions and the Cherry Point, Whiting, Rotterdam, Gelsenkirchen, and Lingen refineries, according to a BP news release.

The alliance will deepen BP and Worley’s collaboration across a portfolio of site projects by leveraging digital capability and global scale. This will further drive efficiency across engineering, procurement, construction development and management, BP said.

According to the release, the alliance builds upon a decade-long collaboration, bringing together “world-class technical expertise in a tight resource market”.

“We remain focused on improving safety, reducing emissions, high value activity, and reducing cost. This alliance increases our operational effectiveness through centralization, standardization and simplification, helping us safely grow the value of BP,” BP VP Site Projects Niall Maguire remarked.

“This alliance builds on our successful partnership in the Site Projects Efficiency Plan (SPEP) over the past two years where we’ve worked together to drive down costs across BP’s global operations. Our shared history and values position us well to identify and implement solutions as we continue to create value and deliver sustainable change throughout BP’s portfolio of projects,” Worley Group President EMEA and APAC Mark Brantley stated.

Earlier this year, Worley signed a five-year global framework agreement to provide engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services covering BP’s global refinery assets and ventures into new energy initiatives. Worley holds EPC contracts across BP’s legacy upstream businesses, according to the release.

According to Worley’s recent half-year results report, the five-year global framework agreement also includes strategic projects in green and blue hydrogen, lower carbon fuels and sustainable aviation fuels. The services will be executed by Worley’s offices globally with support from its global integrated delivery teams.

FEED Study for INEOS

Meanwhile, Worley Rosenberg will deliver a front end engineering design (FEED) study for INEOS’ Hejre development on the Danish Continental Shelf. Hejre, located 186.4 miles (300 kilometers) west of Denmark, is a high pressure, high temperature oil and gas field, first discovered in 2001.

The Hejre project includes both greenfield and brownfield scopes. It involves the design, transportation, and installation of two offshore modules – a new topsides module on the Hejre platform and a hang-off module for installation on the existing South Arne wellhead platform, Worley said in a separate news release.

The FEED will be developed to the required maturity level to help detailed estimation and provide an execution schedule for the upcoming engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) contract, which Worley said it expects to be awarded in the first half of 2025.

“We continue to work with our traditional customers as the world addresses its growing energy security, affordability and sustainability needs,” Jan Narvestad, Managing Director of Worley Rosenberg, said. “This means our work is a balance of contracts and supporting INEOS’ Hejre project is a part of that”.

“We’ve already established a close and productive collaboration with INEOS and look forward to delivering a FEED that will prepare the ground for the next stages of this project,” he added.
