Germany greenlights new wind turbine project

Germany has given the green light for a new project that will see 1,000 turbines producing an eye-watering 60,000 MW. This is a significant increase in energy production from wind turbines and establishes Germany as a global leader in sustainable energy production. The world is edging ever closer to a future that is powered entirely by alternative fuel sources, and this new project has been given the go-ahead to start construction by the relevant authorities in the German government and energy sector.

Germany has become the global leader in wind energy production

Germany has for many years been leading the world’s venture into the renewable energy sector. For a country of Germany’s size, they sure have a lot of people who are committed to finding the next energy source to feed the world’s insatiable appetite for energy. It comes as no surprise that the Germans are universally known and recognized for their extreme engineering projects that more often than not produce fantastic results.

Germans are known for not cutting corners and doing things by the book. They have a national sense of pride in doing things the correct way and have, for generations, been the envy of the world’s engineering experts. Nothing works quite as well as a product made in Germany. And they are bringing that sense of engineering excellence to sustainable energy production.

Someone thought removing one blade from wind turbines could be a good idea — Now it may rewrite history

The Federal Association of Wind Energy (BWE) and the industry association VDMA Power Systems have stated that the new turbines will produce even more energy than the land-based turbines. Last year alone, those land wind turbines accumulated almost 112 billion kilowatt hours of electricity. And the new sea-based turbines will increase that number by an incredible 85%.

“With this, wind energy is expanding its leading role as the most important energy producer in Germany’s electricity mix.”  – BWE President Bärbel Heidebroeck

Sea-based wind turbines have increased capacity to capture energy

The new project will completely revolutionize the wind energy sector. One main issue with wind turbines is that they have a lot of land structures in the way, and as such the full power of the wind can not be harnessed. That is where sea-based wind turbines are different. And the advancements in engineering by the Germans have propelled the new project into new territory.

Land-based turbines account for more than a quarter of the electricity produced in Germany. And that reliance on wind power is only going to grow once the project gets off the ground. The new turbines will have the ability to shift and change direction to match the incoming wind direction, maximizing efficiency and producing vast amounts of energy.

The overarching expectation is that the new project will increase the current capacity of 63.5 GW to 5.3 gigawatts in 2025, which represents a 50% increase from the current crop of wind turbines being used at the moment. That has established Germany as a leader in the sector in Europe, thanks to its 61,405 megawatts of installed capacity.

Can Germany become the global leader in sustainable energy production

That would be the hope for the parties involved in the new sea-based turbines. The Germans have brought their unique and unmatched engineering prowess to the construction of the new turbines by developing new materials that are capable of withstanding the harsh elements out at sea. By giving the project the green light, Germany has begun preparations for the “mother of all energy plants” and has established itself as a leader in the energy sector that the world can be proud of. With the ever-changing climate crisis coming into the public’s eye, new and innovative measures are needed to lure the world away from the harsh fossil fuels that we have relied on for so many generations.
