The expansion of the US gas and oil market has been a sight to behold. Since taking office for the second time, President Donald Trump has been approving nearly every energy project in sight to boost the nation’s output capacity of oil and gas, leading to a wave of new and expanded energy projects in the US market. Energy Transfer, one of the largest energy firms in the United States with operations in over 44 states, has stated it expects the Hugh Brinson natural gas pipeline to complete construction operations in the new year.
The new year comes with a surge in new gas pipelines in the US market
The astonishing growth of the US gas and oil market over the past year has been unlike anything in recent memory. We struggle to think of any other nation that has completely reformed its energy market in such a short time. The US is now the largest gas producer by capacity in the world, and is aiming to continue that upwards trajectory to the top of the proverbial energy mountain.
The Hugh Brinson Pipeline, being developed by Energy Transfer, is a massive 442-mile pipeline project that will transport vast amounts of natural gas from the center of the US energy market in West Texas to existing pipelines south of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. From there, any interested buyer has access to the natural gas in several locations in Texas and Louisiana, as well as export facilities along the US Gulf Coast.
2026 is shaping up to be a great year for the US gas and oil sector
With the construction having already kicked off this year, Energy Transfer expects the pipeline to be in service by Q4 of 2026. Building on the US supply chain, the vast majority of the steel needed for the pipeline will be manufactured in the US. Energy Transfer notes that the project will support roughly 3,100 construction jobs at peak construction, and will provide 34 full-time positions once the pipeline is fully operational.
The Hugh Brinson Pipeline will support the economic expansion taking place in the US at the moment
The US has become home to some of the largest data centers in the world, with Amazon, Google, and Nvidia all constructing new data centers to fuel the AI race with China. Those new data centers require vast amounts of energy; the question becomes, where is the US going to source all that new energy needed? Well, the Hugh Brinson Pipeline will provide some semblance of what’s needed to continue the economic expansion of the US market.
The pipeline will span 16 counties and support various sectors across the digital and industrial markets. With new pipeline buildouts popping up like a raccoon in a trash can all over the US, the energy market is set to reach new output capacity levels unheard of in the global market.
“To minimize construction impacts and reduce the environmental footprint, most of the route follows an existing pipeline right-of-way (ROW). The new pipeline system will provide much-needed takeaway capacity of natural gas out of the Midland Basin, thereby encouraging continued production and further strengthening domestic energy security. – Energy Transfer
We can expect much more growth in the US gas market in 2026 and beyond
The new year will bring a surge in new pipelines being built in the United States. The Eiger Express Pipeline, being built by the Matterhorn Joint Venture, is a notable addition to the already astonishing pipeline infrastructure in the Permian Basin and will continue the expected growth of the US gas market. A smorgasbord of new gas and oil output is set to hit the international market in the new year, and the US is going to provide the vast majority of that new flow of essential oil and gas.
