An interesting aspect related to the projects that are materializing in the United States is the willingness of the country to rely on a multitude of companies, some of which are not U.S. based. The nation is determined to meet its clean energy targets and is working toward doing so through a collaborative effort from the government and energy companies. The nation’s solar industry continues to benefit from the integration of technology, which has opened up the possibilities available for developers. As of late, Monarch finished a 311 MW solar portfolio in Texas, and 250 MWh of battery storage now sits alongside it to hold power for later.

A background overview of Monarch as a leader in the solar sector

Monarch’s funds provide predictable returns through federal and state tax credits in low-cost housing, monumental rehabilitation, energy, and film. The company is headquartered in Atlanta and maintains offices and professionals across the United States, which is one of the ways that companies can enhance their overall reputation in the energy sector.

In this particular project, Monarch decided to work with Sunraycer, a Crayhill Capital Management portfolio company that is a growing, Annapolis, Maryland-based Independent Power Producer (IPP). It has a development, construction stage, and operational pipeline of roughly 3 GW of solar and battery utility-scale power plants.

According to a recent press release from Monarch Private Capital, the company has completed the Midpoint and Gaia solar and battery storage projects developed by Sunraycer Renewables in Texas. Monarch provided tax equity financing for both projects.

The projects represent another massive milestone in Monarch’s expanding energy portfolio and underscore the firm’s dedication to financing utility-scale energy infrastructure that delivers extensive value for investors while improving domestic energy supply. Each project is expected to provide both solar generation and dispatchable storage capacity.

For instance, the Midpoint Solar Project of Hill County, Texas has an estimated 127.05 MWdc of solar generation paired with a 50MW/100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Secondly, there is the Gaia Solar Project of Navarro County, Texas, with roughly 183.84 MWdc of solar generation paired with a 75 MW/150 MWh BESS.

The projects were both placed in service in 2025 and achieved stabilized full-scale operations during the first half of 2026. Incredibly, the facilities are expected to generate an estimated 585 GWh of electricity per year, which is enough to power roughly 54,000 homes, or the combined residential requirements of both counties.

What can be expected of the Monarch and Sunraycer Renewables collaboration?

Industry experts are always seeking to establish whether partnering companies are set to work with each other for an extended period or not. However, for this to become a reality, the collaborating companies must achieve success in the projects that they pursue.

In this particular instance, the BESS components permit energy from the projects or other sources to be stored and dispatched when needed, further supporting a more stable grid for all users. Together, the projects add capacity to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid at a time when electricity demand across Texas continues to increase.

Looking ahead: The ongoing transformation of the solar energy sector

Technology has completely transformed the solar energy industry in such a way that industry experts believe there are set to be more groundbreaking changes as technology develops. Bryan Didier, Partner and Managing Director, Energy, at Monarch Capital stated the following:

“The completion of Midpoint and Gaia represents another important milestone in Monarch’s mission to finance energy infrastructure that delivers both attractive investor returns and meaningful long-term impact.”

The United States consists of an abundance of companies that are actively working toward being the leaders in the renewable sector. Monarch Private Capital is a company that manages impact investment funds that improve communities by creating energy, affordable housing, and jobs.
