Approximately 55% of the hydrogen is used in petroleum refining to remove sulfur from fuels, with the rest of it going toward ammonia and chemical production.

States like Texas, Louisiana, and California host most production plants, which makes them the hub for hydrogen generation. Because there is a wide range of hydrogen types such as gray, green, and blue hydrogen, the nation must be choosy with the type that it dedicates the most investment to.

A press release from NewHydrogen revealed that the company has jointly filed a third provisional patent application with the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) for its novel clean hydrogen production technology. The patent is titled “Hydrogen Production in Isothermal Chemical Looping Cycle”. It is a provisional patent application that follows two previously filed ones and goes into deeper detail about the improvements made to the technology.
