Latvian wind project heads toward commissioning this year

The global energy transition is in full swing, with a litany of nations committing to the gradual phasing out of the coal and oil sector in favor of the untapped potential of the renewable energy sector. That realization of diversifying the energy market has reached the European continent, as Grupo Enhol has selected the king of the wind power sector, Nordex, to deliver turbines for the 34 MW repowering of a Spanish wind facility. Nordex has become the undisputed king of the wind power component manufacturing sector, with operations that span the length and breadth of the world.

Europe’s proclivity for clean energy was reaffirmed at the recent G20 Summit

The G20 Summit in South Africa saw a litany of nations doubling down on their commitment to reducing emissions over the next three years, reaffirming the promises made more than a decade ago at the Paris Summit. Many nations have noted that the best way to achieve their emission reduction goals is to invest in the renewable energy sector.

A new G20 Declaration was agreed upon to triple clean energy production and double the energy efficiency of existing projects, marking the continued ambitions to integrate the renewable energy sector into national grids. Spain has committed, along with the rest of the world, to completely revolutionizing its energy sector in the coming years, hence the new deal between Grupo Enhol and Nordex.

Nordex has secured a new deal to increase Spain’s renewable energy generation capacity

Nordex has been selected to provide turbines for the repowering of a wind facility in Spain, as noted by the company recently. The repowering of the Caparroso wind project will have a total installed capacity of 34.2 MW, and Nordex has sweetened the deal by offering a 20-year Premium Service contract to Grupo Enhol. The pair of companies has a long-standing relationship, as most energy companies have developed with Nordex due to its astonishing standards in the wind power sector.

Spain’s perception of the renewable energy sector has led to several new wind projects

Nordex has noted that the new repowering project that will take place in the village of Caparroso marks the continued successful energy relationship between itself and Grupo Enhol, following the successful launch of several other wind projects in the nation, such as the Abilitas (41.6 MW), Cabanillas (56.5 MW), and Pestriz (52.8 MW) wind farms in Navarra.

Nordex expects the installation work to kick off in July 2026, with commissioning anticipated by February 2027. The wind towers, turbine blades, and other essential components will be built by Nordex in Spain, while the hubs and drive train components will be manufactured at the firm’s factory in Germany.

Notalby, the repowering project is being financed through the Recovery and Resilience Facility, established by Regulation (EU) 2021/241 of the European Parliament. Nordex’s wind portfolio is vast, with the firm recently receiving an order from SSE for a 60 MW wind farm in Ireland.

“Our advanced turbine technology and manufacturing capabilities are essential for supporting the region’s energy transition and the goals of the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility.” – Francisco Cejudo, Director Sales Spain at Nordex Group

Nordex has become the backbone of the international wind power sector

The news that Nordex will supply the necessary components for the repowering project in Spain comes as the company reports astonishing progress in the wind power sector all over the world. Nordex recently received another order for a wind power project in its home country of Germany. This astonishing advancement of the wind power sector in Europe is exemplary of the necessary energy transition to the renewable energy market that has encompassed nearly every corner of the planet.
