There is an abundance of companies in the United States that are aiming to maintain the nation’s dominance in the renewable sector. While this competitive nature makes it difficult for individual companies to stand out, it is still a positive for the nation as it is working toward meeting its overall clean energy objectives. The United States’ focus during the clean energy transition has been diversifying the energy portfolio of every state and ensuring that there is a consistent supply of renewable energy. As of late, OroCarbo reserved 12 Haffner systems for a string of renewable hydrogen hubs planned across the Western U.S.

Analyzing Haffner Energy and OroCarbo’s contributions to the energy sector

Haffner Energy is well known for designing and supplying innovative solutions for the production of competitive renewable fuels for biomass. With over 33 years experience, using different types of biomass, the company has developed proprietary thermolysis and gasification technologies permitting the production of renewable gas, hydrogen, renewable methanol, power, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

When energy companies decide to collaborate, it is highly important that they complement each other effectively to ensure they meet their overall targets. OroCarbo reserves 12 Haffner systems for a string of renewable hydrogen hubs

CORE100 is Haffner Energy’s industrial program for the deployment of the first 100 standardized C-iC units. The program is designed to quicken commercial deployment through standardization and series production. It allows customers to reserve production slots for modular units that can be deployed individually or combined to serve larger projects.

A recent press release from Haffner Energy unveiled that the company seeks to deploy the units as part of its development of local renewable energy hubs in California, Oregon, and Washington State. The products are expected to convert locally available residual biomass into renewable syngas, mainly for renewable hydrogen for mobility and local power generation in areas where grid capacity and reliability may be restricted.

The Haffner Energy officials believe that the reservation for 12 CiC units represents a new step in its partnership with OroCarbo which is the roll out of the company’s CORE100 across the Western United States. The company can be excited about this milestone as it hopes to roll out the program globally.

Understanding the significance of the Haffner Energy and OroCarbo relationship

Haffner Energy and OroCarbo have been working together since 2025 when they were working on a 100 tons/day biomethanol project in California. The first phase, an independent carbon-intensity study, was completed during Haffner Energy’s 2025-2026 financial year with results supporting the strong decarbonization potential of the project.

The biomethanol project has since been halted pending sufficient long-term methanol offtake commitments. However, the work carried out together by both companies has opened the pathway for a broader collaboration between the two entities. This relationship is one that may bring many captivating projects to the industry.

Looking ahead: The CORE100 set to elevate the energy industry

Both companies are pleased following the announcement of their most recent collaboration. Brian Wong, Founder and Managing Member of OroCarbo, stated:  

“Our ambition is to develop local renewable energy hubs that turn abundant residual biomass into clean energy where it is needed. We see significant opportunities both for renewable hydrogen in mobility and for local power generation in areas where grid capacity or reliability is a constraint. Reserving 12 SYNOCA® C-iC units is an important step towards building that network with Haffner Energy.”
