The wind energy sector in Europe has been boosted by the news that Renewable Power Capital (RPC) has placed an order for 80 wind turbines with the undisputed king of the turbine manufacturing market, Nordex, for several wind farms in Sweden. The London-based company has secured a loan to develop the four wind energy projects in the European nation, positioning the nation as a major driver in the renewable energy market this year.

RPC is developing a new era of clean energy generation in Europe

It has become abundantly clear to the world that the use of renewable energy needs to increase to avoid the disastrous emission situation that is currently unfolding on the international market. Wind, solar, and nuclear energy generation are undoubtedly the path towards net-zero emissions for the global energy market.

Europe has become a major driver in the push to integrate more renewable energy into the international market. Sweden is the latest nation to develop its clean energy portfolio, as RPC has placed an order for 80 wind turbines for four substantial wind projects, namely:

  • Vitberget, which is located in the Kramfors municipality and boasts a 161 MW output capacity
  • Storhöjden will supply 154 MW from its facility in the Kramfors municipality
  • 140 MW will come from the Sörlidberget wind farm in the Kramfors and Sollefteå municipalities
  • The Knäsjöberget wind farm in the Sollefteå municipality will provide 98 MW of clean energy

The combined output from the 80 wind turbines ordered by RPC comes in at an astonishing 553 MW, and positions Sweden as a market leader in the advancement of the wind energy sector. The four wind farms in question represent the largest project to date for RPC, as it aims to deliver on its mandate of clean energy production on the European continent.

Nordex is fast becoming the king of the wind turbine sector

The new agreement between Nordex and RPC exemplifies the progress made in Europe in adopting the renewable energy market. Nordex will construct, install, and maintain the 80 turbines for the four wind farms in Sweden. The deal follows RPC acquiring the 146MW Klevberget wind farm from developer OX2 in December.

“Sweden is a priority market for RPC, so we’re delighted to have reached this project milestone. We are also delighted to forge this new partnership with Nordex at a critical time in the evolution of the European renewables sector.” – Kevin Devlin, CEO of RPC

As the market shifts to renewable energy, several European nations are developing frameworks to integrate the wind energy sector to meet increased clean energy demand, such as Romania with its Lalomița wind project, paving the way for companies such as Nordex to boost their already impressive turbine manufacturing capabilities.

“We are proud to be involved in this important wind cluster with our turbines and to once again be able to demonstrate the effectiveness of our anti-icing technology in such a demanding climatological setting. High Coast will broaden our experience with large-scale projects in Sweden and help us to consolidate our position as a leading provider of wind turbines in Scandinavia. We are very pleased to be working with Renewable Power Capital for the first time.” – Patxi Landa, CSO of the Nordex Group

The advancement of the wind power market is reaching a critical juncture

The news that Nordex has secured the turbine order from RPC comes as several nations aim to enter the wind energy sector for the first time. Cambodia, which has been at war with Thailand towards the end of last year, has commissioned its first-ever wind energy project. With the wind energy market growing at an astonishing rate, the future of the global energy sector is dependent on the adoption of clean energy projects.
