A common trend in the modern-day energy landscape is the collaboration between foreign companies and countries. This is often met with some resistance, but at the end of the day, both the company and the country benefit from the partnership. In the latest display of this, Sabancı’s subsidiary appointed an EPC partner to deliver a whopping 256 MW of solar capacity across US projects. This is a revelation that could end up benefiting both the US and the Sabancı subsidiary.

256 MW of solar capacity: Analyzing the USA’s solar energy current landscape

With the continuous advancement of technology, many industries are thriving because they are now able to complete projects that would have otherwise been impossible. As such, the US solar energy landscape is currently experiencing a record-breaking growth with over 262 MW of installed solar capacity across the nation as of 2025. To put this figure into context, it is enough to provide electricity for 45 million homes. As 2026 is now fully underway, solar is reportedly the fastest-growing energy source in the US. Among the states receiving the most progress are California and Texas.

Now, Sabancı has also entered the fray to further enhance the solar landscape of the USA. The company has received an overall good reception because people appreciate that fossil fuels can be eliminated from the country someday to preserve the earth.

Presenting Sabancı: An overview of the solar energy initiative in the US

Sabancı Renewables is the subsidiary of Sabancı Climate Technologies, which is all part of the larger Sabancı Holding group. In the latest development, the corporation has appointed Signal Energy to take on the responsibility of crucial developments in the US. The chosen company will assume the position of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for two solar assets that were acquired in the US. This means it will be supervising two projects to ensure that they are delivered in accordance with the theoretical strategy that was established a long time ago.

Under the EPC contract, the Lucky 7 Solar Project in Brashear, Texas, and the Pepper Solar Project in Waco, Texas, will be covered. All in all, the sites are expected to deliver 256 MW of solar power energy once the development is completely executed and functioning.

How has Sabancı Holding Group established its reputation in the US market?

The involvement of Sabancı in the latest solar developments will not come as a shock to many people who have become familiar with it, as it has worked in different states over the years. Interestingly, its expansion into the US is a strategic decision, as it aims to push into renewables and climate technologies. The US is one of the most economically developed and technologically advanced nations in the world, which is why there are foreign companies hoping to gain access to some of its facilities.

256 MW of solar capacity coming to key cities in the state of Texas

Owing to the upcoming solar energy development, Texas has all of a sudden become a significant part of diversifying the energy portfolio of the US. The Pepper Solar Project was acquired in June 2025 and is set to have an estimated capacity of 156 MW. The Lucky 7 project was acquired in August, bringing another 100 MWac to Texas’s pipeline. The US holds an economic advantage over many countries because when it works on projects, they are likely to materialize, as it does not need any funding.

The Texas solar projects are key components in building a more diversified, sustainable energy portfolio in one of the world’s most dynamic markets for utility-scale solar. At the moment, Sabancı’s initiative is viewed as more of a Texas-based development, but if it is successful, then the US will not hesitate to take it to other states. With the enhancement of solar energy in the US, decarbonisation will be achieved at an even greater scale.
