Utah’s Skyline Mine in Emery County is heading for sale as the BLM(Bureau of Land Management) aims to make the sale a landmark milestone in the energy sector. The 120 acres containing approximately 1.29 million tons of recoverable federal coal within the Little Eccles Tract will go up for sale on Oct. 1, 2025. The sale is just the latest in a long line of potential and completed acquisitions by several companies in the energy sector as the industry welcomes and embraces the Trump administration’s new approach to revitalizing the energy sector in the United States.
Skyline Mine received an expedited environmental review for expansion
BLM is not messing around as it plans to lease the site that has been in operation since 1981. Canyon Fuel Company, LLC has been operating and managing the site for over 30 years, and the recent news of an expedited environmental review has been welcomed by the company as well as the BLM, who are doing their best to implement the US President’s measures to increase America’s energy independence.

On its website, BLM has stated that “This action supports Executive Order 14241, ‘Reinvigorating America’s Beautiful Clean Coal Industry,’ and responds to the application submitted by Canyon Fuel Company, LLC”. It went on to state that the applicants have several options as to how to submit their applications for the lease.

BLM has stated that any and all bids must be submitted on or before 11:00 a.m. MT on Oct. 1, 2025. And that any bids received after that deadline will not be considered, the sale of the Little Eccles Tract near Skyline Mine in Emery County will take place at 1:00 p.m. MT on the same day, so time is running out for the companies looking to benefit from the expedited process that the Trump administration is pioneering.
