With 2025 fading into our collective memories, the new year brings with it a surge in renewable energy projects across the world. The European energy industry has been fostering a new era of clean energy generation that has seen Vestas, a market-leading wind turbine manufacturer, receive three orders from Irish wind projects as part of its December 2025 intake.
Wind energy generation has become a viable form of clean energy
It has become evident to the world that more investments in renewable energy are necessary in order to alleviate concerns over climate change. While we as the public can do our part, the major change needs to come from the global energy industry.
Decarbonizing the international energy market is a shared responsibility of the nations of the world. Demand influences output from the energy industry, so if more nations establish renewable energy projects that are incentivized, we might just stand a chance.
Ireland has placed three orders for substantial wind projects
Vestas has been operating in the turbine manufacturing industry for many decades and boasts an impressive international portfolio that spans every corner of the planet. Now, the company has reported that part of its Q4 intake for 2025, it has received three orders for turbines for Irish wind projects this year.
“Vestas is the energy industry’s global partner on sustainable energy solutions. We design, manufacture, install, and service onshore and offshore wind turbines across the globe, and with more than 197 GW of wind turbines in 88 countries, we have installed more wind power than anyone else.” – Vestas
Vestas now aims to lead the global wind energy market
Thanks to the significant turbine orders the company received last year, it now leads the world in installed wind turbines. The aforementioned wind energy projects in Ireland are the latest attempt by the government to boost the output capacity from the renewable energy industry and take advantage of the region’s windy weather conditions.
The first wind energy project that has placed an order for turbines with Vestas is the Invis Energy project, which has placed an order for seven of Vestas’ V150-6.0 MW series turbines. The Knocknamork wind project will supply up to 42 MW of clean energy to the national grid.
Vestas to provide long-term service agreements for the projects
The order comes with a 20-year service agreement, and Vestas expects the delivery of the wind turbines to begin in the third quarter of this year, with full-scale commissioning being targeted by Q2 of 2027. While some nations aim to enter the wind energy market for the first time, like Cambodia, Ireland is about to see a surge in clean energy production thanks to the three new projects.
The remaining two projects will feature 22 of the V136-4.5 MW turbines for a 99-MW project, and 11 units of the V117-4.3 MW model that will boost the nation’s energy output from the wind sector. It should be noted that the customers for these two projects have not been named by the Danish wind turbine manufacturer.
The future and health of our environment and climate depend on whether nations can efficiently transition towards the renewable energy market following decades of relying on conventional oil and gas to meet energy demand.
A new year brings with it a renewed sense of optimism
Ireland is the latest nation to develop a welcoming environment for the renewable energy market. The nation has the perfect weather to take advantage of wind energy, and through the new orders placed with Vestas is well on its way to developing a new era of clean energy production in Europe. With new and innovative technologies, the wind power market is set to grow substantially over the coming years.
