ONYX Insight’s Cortex platform clears AWS Foundational Technical Review and joins AWS Marketplace

ONYX Insight just announced that ONYX Cortex, its AI-powered reliability and performance platform for the wind industry, cleared the AWS Foundational Technical Review (FTR) and is now listed in AWS Marketplace. The company shared the news at its North American Technical Symposium in Denver, and it’s a meaningful step forward — ONYX Insight builds its software on AWS as a member of the AWS Partner Network.

ONYX Cortex clears AWS review and enters marketplace

The timing was deliberate. The announcement landed October 27 in Denver, right as ONYX Insight’s North American Technical Symposium got underway. Clearing the AWS FTR is the headline, but the Marketplace listing that comes with it might matter just as much for wind operators who want to evaluate and adopt the platform without jumping through procurement hoops.

ONYX Insight holds AWS Technology Partner status within the AWS Partner Network — not just a badge. The company builds its entire software stack on AWS, which means the infrastructure running ONYX Cortex is the same infrastructure the FTR actually evaluates. Wind asset owners and operators around the world can now access the platform directly through the Marketplace listing, with considerably less friction in the adoption process.

The company runs its full software stack on AWS as an AWS Technology Partner, and the FTR adds a layer of independent technical validation to that relationship.

Why the AWS review matters for wind industry AI

The AWS FTR isn’t a formality. It examines how a software solution is built and run — specifically against AWS best practices for security, reliability, and operational excellence. Passing it means a product has cleared a defined technical bar, not just a commercial one.

That distinction carries real weight in wind. Operators are making increasingly high-stakes calls based on AI-generated recommendations: when to schedule maintenance, which turbines need attention, how to spread limited resources across a fleet. The quality of those decisions depends entirely on whether you can trust the technology behind them.

ONYX Insight has built its AI development around data quality, security, and the engineering expertise that gives results their meaning — what it calls the foundations of trusted AI in demanding operational settings. The FTR brings outside validation to that internal commitment. For operators, it translates to added assurance: when a platform has cleared a rigorous third-party technical review, acting on its outputs becomes easier to justify both internally and to stakeholders.

What ONYX Cortex does for wind asset operators

ONYX Cortex is built around a single connected workflow. Condition monitoring, performance analytics, and maintenance planning all live in one platform — no bouncing between separate tools or reconciling data pulled from different systems.

The engine behind it pairs physics-informed AI with real-world wind industry data. Physics-based models bring domain knowledge that purely data-driven approaches can miss, particularly for edge cases or failure modes that rarely appear in historical datasets. The practical result is earlier detection of emerging turbine issues — you see problems developing before they escalate, and you can understand the commercial and operational impact before deciding how to respond.

That last part changes how maintenance decisions get made. ONYX Cortex lets operators prioritize interventions based on their effect on revenue and levelized cost of energy (LCoE), shifting away from reactive or calendar-based maintenance toward decisions grounded in actual business impact.

Alexis Grenon, CEO of ONYX Insight, put it plainly: “Wind operators are increasingly relying on data and AI to make decisions about their fleets, and they need full confidence in the technology behind that intelligence. Building on AWS strengthens our ability to progress AI for the wind industry and deliver the critical innovation operators need, built on technology they can trust.”

Context: Prior launch and AWS partnership activity

ONYX Cortex didn’t debut in Denver. The platform originally launched at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026, so the AWS milestone is an acceleration of its trajectory rather than the starting point. The FTR completion and Marketplace listing are the next layer of validation built on top of a product already out in the world.

The Denver event itself reflects how deep the AWS relationship runs. AWS is sponsoring the North American Technical Symposium on October 27 and 28 — well beyond a logo placement. The two organizations are co-presenting a session where Liam Sharkey, ONYX Insight’s VP of AI & Innovation, will join AWS to discuss “Building Agentic AI from the Ground Up: Data, Security & Context.”

That session is worth paying attention to. Agentic AI — systems capable of taking sequences of actions toward a goal with limited human intervention — represents a meaningful step beyond conventional analytics. The discussion will dig into why strong foundations in data, security, and context determine whether agentic AI delivers real value in complex industrial environments, rather than introducing new risks.

What this milestone means in practice

Here’s the short version: ONYX Insight completed the AWS Foundational Technical Review for ONYX Cortex, secured a listing in AWS Marketplace, and gave wind operators worldwide a cleaner path to adopting the platform. The company runs its full software stack on AWS as an AWS Technology Partner, and the FTR adds a layer of independent technical validation to that relationship.

ONYX Cortex brings together condition monitoring, performance analytics, and maintenance planning in one workflow, using physics-informed AI to help operators catch issues earlier and tie maintenance decisions to measurable business outcomes. The platform launched at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026. This AWS milestone marks its next stage of growth — with agentic AI already on the horizon.
