A Colorado community solar project is opening renewable power to more than 1,000 lower-income households that may never have been able to put panels on their own roofs

The clean energy transition has been highly beneficial to the general population in a variety of ways. Firstly, people now have an abundance of clean energy that they can rely on for many years to come. Secondly, clean energy projects have created massive employment opportunities for people. The United States remains committed to diversifying the energy portfolio of every state and ensuring that there is a variety of energy sources within every state so that people continue to have electricity throughout the year. Recently, it was revealed that a Colorado community solar project is opening renewable power to more than 1,000 lower-income households that may never have been able to put panels on their own roofs.
Unpacking the solar energy sector of Colorado and Pivot Energy’s contribution
While companies are competing to be the pioneers in the solar energy sector, it is important to recognize that healthy competition means more facilities for the U.S. Pivot Energy has been among the most active companies in 2026, and it is on course to finish off the year on a high note.
The company was founded in 2009 and is a leading national renewable energy provider and independent power producer that develops, owns, and operates solar and energy storage projects. Companies that offer a wide range of services are more likely to be appointed in groundbreaking initiatives as countries recognize their capability to manage the responsibilities.

One of the reasons why countries have struggled to reduce carbon emissions is because not everyone can afford to invest in clean energy electricity solutions. A recent press release from Pivot Energy revealed that the company, along with Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC), brought together community solar subscribers, local leaders, agricultural partners, and energy industry stakeholders Monday, October 5th to celebrate Community Solar Energy Day and a solar project displaying how Colorado can address energy affordability while expanding access to renewable energy.
When a variety of people and organizations come together, they can exchange ideas so the energy industry can be elevated further. The ceremony was held at Pivot Energy’s Kacie Peters Solar Garden in Aurora, and it gave subscribers to the community solar project and community partners an opportunity to tour the 5-megawatt solar garden, discover how community solar helps reduce household electricity costs, and witness firsthand how solar generation can exist together with agriculture and other uses of land.
An overview: Unpacking how the Community Solar Day event unfolded
Among the people at the event was Mayor Mike Coffman, who declared a proclamation that October 2nd would be Community Solar Day in Aurora, as well as remarks from Pivot Energy CEO Tom Hunt, Energy Outreach Colorado CEO Jennifer Gremmert, and Zeryai Hagos, Xcel Energy’s RVP of Integrated Planning, along with tours of the solar garden opportunities for subscribers and community partners to connect with.
The general population can be excited about the project that is located on formerly unused land leased from the City of Aurora and interconnected directly with Xcel Energy’s grid, and dedicates 100% of its capacity to income-qualified households. The project provides energy savings to more than 1,000 families and saves an estimated $800 in electricity per year for each household.
Looking ahead: Colorado’s solar energy landscape continues to advance rapidly
There have been multiple captivating projects in Colorado that all solidify the state as a solar energy powerhouse. Jennifer Gremmert, CEO of Energy Outreach Colorado, stated the following:
“Community solar can provide a meaningful reduction in energy costs without requiring participants to install solar panels or own property. This benefit comes at no cost to our subscribers and saves them an average of 50% on their electricity bill, which eases difficult choices about paying for other essential needs like food and medicine.”
