Despite US President Donald Trump’s clear and evident disdain for the wind energy sector, several US-based energy companies are advancing their international portfolio as the wind energy sector picks up steam like a train plummeting down the renewable energy tracks. GE Vernova has become the cornerstone of the international wind energy market and was recently selected to supply wind turbines for a Romanian venture that is backed by Greenvolt. Europe’s proclivity for clean energy has been a major driver in the adoption of renewable energy on the continent.

Wind energy generation is finally getting the attention it deserves

After decades of the international energy market overlooking the wind energy sector, recent calls to diversify energy mixes and integrate more renewable energy into national grids have led to a litany of nations turning to the overlooked potential of wind power. GE Vernova is a Massachusetts-based energy company with a portfolio of energy projects that spans the length and breadth of the international energy market.

The company’s wind power department is a milestone achievement for a US-based energy company due to the current administration’s clear feelings towards the wind power sector. GE Vernova seems to look past the regulatory barriers that the US has put on the wind power market and instead focuses on international wind projects that can boost the company’s overall footprint.

“GE Vernova’s Wind segment is focused on delivering a suite of wind products and services to help accelerate a new era of energy by harnessing the power of wind. Technologies provided to customers include the next generation high efficiency 3-megawatt onshore wind turbine and the Haliade-X offshore wind turbine platform, as well as maintenance solutions and life extension optionality.” – GE Vernova website

GE Vernova is set to supply the necessary turbines for a Romanian wind project

In the global energy marketplace, the saying “if it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it” generally rings true. GE Vernova has been selected to construct, supply, install, and maintain the wind turbines for the Gurbanesti wind project. It will be the second deal for GE Vernova in Romania in as many months, as the company has been developing another wind energy project in the nation, the Ialomita wind farm.

The astonishing advancements in wind energy technology have become a sight for sore eyes, leading to a wave of new possibilities in the future to capture more wind energy through a much more efficient system.

The Ialomita wind farm and the Gurbanesti project will both require Vernova to supply 42 wind turbines, each with a 6.1 MW capacity. Together, the projects will add approximately 500 MW to Romania’s grid, building on the nation’s ambitions to increase clean energy production by 2030. With the significant backing of Greenvolt, expectations are that the orders will be delivered without any issues or interruptions.

“We are pleased to once again support Greenvolt as they work to bring online more renewable energy in Romania and across the globe. Paired with our earlier announcement about supporting a similar sized Romanian wind farm, this reinforces the value our workhorse turbines can create for customers in Romania and across Europe.” – Gilan Sabatier, Chief Commercial Officer for GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind business in International Markets

Europe has been a welcoming destination for the wind power market

In recent years, it has become clear that the wind power sector needs to foster more investments, particularly in Europe, which has shown its proclivity for clean energy production. Poland has noted that it expects the Baltic Power Farm to be completed in 2026, and other European nations have expressed similar expectations for their own wind power developments. Wind power can deliver vast amounts of energy to national grids without placing the environment at risk of increasing levels of climate change.
