The renewable energy market has seen tremendous growth over the past decade as a litany of nations aim to decarbonize their energy sectors and reduce levels of harmful emissions. Decarbonizing the international energy market will be no easy task, but anything worth doing in this world does not come easily. India has become a leader in the successful adoption of the renewable energy sector and has recently announced that Kundan Green Energy and Havells India are developing a new 21.43 MW captive solar facility in Rajasthan.
Rajasthan has become a regional hub for energy projects in India
India has one of the largest populations anywhere in the world; in fact, according to data, it recently surpassed China as the most densely populated country on Earth. At the moment, India’s population is hovering around the 1.4 billion mark, and expectations are for the population to increase further over the coming years.
All those new people will need a reliable and stable energy supply. While India has been developing its energy production capacity, the nation needs to diversify its energy portfolio to meet the expected increase in demand. Oil and gas are simply not going to cover it. Step into the renewable energy sector to fill the gap and provide substantial amounts of clean energy for the populace.
Kundan Green Energy and Havells India to partner on a new solar project in Rajasthan
Kundan Solar, which is a subsidiary of New Delhi-based Jundan Solar, has expanded its regional clean energy footprint by offering to purchase a 26% stake from Havells India for the development of the new 21.43/15 MW captive solar project in Rajasthan. The region has seen several new energy projects being planned, but the latest developments stem from the government’s ambitions to increase output from the solar sector.
Why not take advantage of the sunny skies over the Indian nation
India experiences vast amounts of extremely hot weather, with sunny skies dominating the Indian landscape. Rajasthan, in particular, experiences on average 250 to 300 days of delicious sunshine, making it the perfect location for solar energy production in India. Kundan said in a press release that it would be investing upwards of ₹72.5 crore to develop the new solar facility.
The new solar project is housed under a special-purpose vehicle named Kundan Solar (Pali) Pvt. Ltd, which will handle the design, development, construction, and maintenance of the operation over its lifetime. Notably, the project will be completed in phases, each one unlocking a new round of funds for the successful completion of the new 21.43 /15 MW solar plant.
“This partnership reflects confidence in Kundan Green Energy’s capabillity to deliver scalable, high-quality renewable infrasturcture. The 21.43 MW DC project strengthens our mission to support industries with reliable clean power, helping them reduce their carbon footprint, enhace energy security, and achieve long-term cost stability in their sustainability journey.” – Udit Garg, Managing Director at Kundan Green Energy
The Indian renewable energy market has seen tremendous growth over the past few years, with Hindustan Power winning a contract to develop a massive 300 MWp solar plus 300 MWh storage project.
Rajasthan has become the go-to destination for the renewable energy sector in India
India’s warm and sunny climate is a match made in heaven for the solar market, and through the new solar facility that is set to be built and operated by Kundan Green Energy, Rajasthan will become a major driver for the renewable energy market in India. The state has launched India’s first-ever solar park integrated with an efficient battery storage system, exemplifying the positive sentiments towards clean energy in India. The nation is set to become a global leader in the renewable energy market, and the world will be better off for it.
