Nordex 32% wind turbine orders

The wind energy sector continues to advance as projects are increasingly influenced by technological innovation and modern-day strategies. A unique element of the wind energy sector is that once a company offers brand new turbines that are different from the traditional ones, it is likely to be at the forefront of groundbreaking projects. Nowadays, wind energy facilities are combined with storage systems as developers are aiming to guarantee consistent electricity availability and overcome the long-standing intermittency issues. As of late, Nordex recorded a 32% year-over-year increase in second-quarter wind turbine orders, reaching 3.1 GW.

Unpacking Nordex’s growing importance in the wind energy sector

As companies gain more respectability and enhance their reputation, they stand a chance to generate greater revenue. The Nordex Group has commissioned more than 64 GW of wind power capacity in over 40 markets since 1985 and generated consolidated sales of about EUR 7.6 billion in 2025. The amount of global reach that a company has allows it to create good relationships everywhere and solidify its presence.

Nordex currently has more than 111,000 employees with a manufacturing network that includes factories in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, the U.S., and Turkiye. Importantly, Nordex was founded in Denmark and is headquartered in Germany, which are among Europe’s leading wind energy countries.

The company’s product portfolio is centered on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW+ classes, which are designed to meet the market demands of countries that have restricted available space and regions with limited grid capacity. Wind energy projects consist of great obstacles that companies must overcome before receiving approval.

A global powerhouse, Nordex, records a 32% year-over-year increase in second-quarter wind turbine orders

A press release from Nordex SE unveiled that in the second quarter of 2026, the company recorded 3,054 MW of orders in the Projects segment, excluding Service business, 32.2 percent higher than the previous year’s figures (Q2/2025: 2,310 MW). This is a groundbreaking achievement that reflects the rapid pace at which the clean energy industry is advancing.

For the first half of the year 2026, this amounts to 4,923 MW, an increase of 9.6 percent (H1/2025:4,492 MW). The average sales price in euros per megawatt of capacity (ASP) was EUR 0.97 million/MW in the second quarter 2026 (Q2/2025: EUR 0.97 million /MW) and EUR 0.95 million/MW in the first half of 2026 (H1/2025: EUR 0.92 million/MW).

The company unveiled that project scope and regional mix effects have been the main factors behind its achievements. Between April and June 2026, customers ordered a total of 496 wind turbines for projects in 10 countries. The strongest markets were Germany, the U.S., and Turkiye.

An overall assessment of the European wind energy landscape in 2026

Because wind energy can only be generated if there is sufficient wind, this means orders for turbines increase during seasons where wind is available in abundance. One of the biggest advantages of the European landscape is that countries are willing to work with each other and collaborate in clean energy projects, as they will contribute toward the entire continent’s overall targets.

A general overview of Nordex SE’s anticipated importance to future projects

Following the company’s achievement of such a massive amount of growth in wind turbine orders, there are high expectations of its impact on future projects. Jose Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group, stated the following:

“With an order intake of around 800 megawatts in the U.S. this quarter, we’ve reached an important milestone. It reflects the trust our customers place in us and the strength of our organisation in the American market. We remain focused on reliable execution as we continue to grow alongside our customers.”

Europe’s wind energy supplies approximately 19% to 20% of the continent’s electricity, driven by industry pioneers like Germany, Sweden, and Turkiye. The region expects to install 151 GW of new capacity between 2026 and 2030, though progress may be halted or delayed by the complex grid connections and slow permit approvals.
