Presented at the Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander, Spain, was not a wind turbine, but a 7,5 kW generator that cleans the air while producing power. This sustainable solution is called Soleolico, which is the world’s first hybrid generator that is responsible for producing wind and solar power while absorbing CO₂ at the same time. According to Carlos Serrada, president and founder of Soleolico, the wind turbine that absorbs CO₂ was the result of many people working and researching together.

A combination of wind and solar power in an absorbing gadget

Soleolico is a vertical-axis turbine that operates silently at seven revolutions per minute. This wind and solar solution is a wildlife-friendly design that is meant to reduce noise pollution. The Soleolico can be installed in all areas, including heavily populated areas.

Wind can be captured from all directions as the turbine has a magnetic blade guidance system. The good news is that this turbine can result in 25% higher performance when compared to the more traditional turbines. While harnessing the power of the wind, solar integration ensures constant power generation.

During the day, the embedded solar cells are able to gain energy directly from the sun, and the wind turbine aspect ensures that power is generated at night and when the sun doesn’t shine. The system is thus able to generate power 24/7 with further support from advanced battery storage.

A generator that works to absorb CO₂ from the air, too

While Soleolico is well known for its 7,5 kW capacity that enables the generator to power homes, offices, and the community at large, the best feature of the Soleolico is that it features an air-purifying surface. The tower and the sails are coated with 3-D printed material that absorbs CO₂ and transforms it into harmless byproducts.

The 3-D printed material was developed by LaMáquina using Pure. Tech technology to absorb the CO₂. As has been said by the director of Pure. Tech, installing 1,000 units of Soleolico would result in the absorption of as much CO₂ as 287 trees in just a year. The design can be customized by 3-D printing so as to effortlessly blend into an environment.

Soleolico called the first-ever technological tree

Soleolico achieved quite a name for itself, being called the first-ever technological tree. In fact, the term “technological tree” was given by Serrada. The feat for Serrada is that the Soleolico can even work in the park, producing clean air whilst ridding the Earth of CO₂.  While vertical wind turbines are always set to beat solar panels, the Soleolico ensures that a wind generator can work alongside solar panels.

One of the reasons why Soleolico is so valued is that it can coexist in all settings. Soleolico’s versatility is another reason why it is such an impressive generator.

Stepping closer to a cleaner power future

Serrada’s company has a goal to capture 1% of the global renewable energy market over the next decade. To reach this ambitious goal, the company will have to produce 3 million Soleolico units while generating over €100 billion in revenue. To achieve this goal, Soleolico will build its first manufacturing facility in Spain while expanding on partnerships in all regions.

Production capacity is set to exceed 25,000 units per month, with the company planning for the generator to be located all over cities. Soleolico has come in at the right time, offering some hope for a cleaner planet. This combination of wind, sun, and technology is reimagining what renewable power could mean for us. When wind meets solar in a wild fusion, the results are quite amazing, and Soleolico proves this.
