PowerBank 7 MW brownfield solar facility

There are a number of companies that have become a mainstay in the energy industry, of which energy enthusiasts are aware of their reputation and what they bring. Companies that have a good reputation increase their chances of being selected to spearhead groundbreaking projects, which is why the completion of every project is of high importance. The United States’ solar energy industry is thriving at the moment, considering the amount of resources and wealth that developers have. Among these is PowerBank, which has placed a 7 MW brownfield solar facility into commercial operation in New York.

Overview: Analyzing PowerBank as a pioneer in the solar energy industry

PowerBank is among the companies that have been highly active in 2026, assisting the United States in taking massive strides to achieve its clean energy targets. The company is currently involved in a number of ongoing projects and has already completed a variety of them in 2026.

PowerBank is a vertically integrated and independent North American company that is helping to power the digital economy.

In previous generations, solar energy facilities faced great criticism because they were prone to intermittency issues. However, in the modern-day era, developers are now incorporating energy storage into their facilities so that there can be consistent energy availability.

Assessing how PowerBank was able to place a 7 MW brownfield solar facility into operation

Despite the number of achievements that PowerBank has had, it is not slowing down and remains intent on advancing the solar energy industry. The company’s latest project is delivered under a US$41 million EPC agreement as part of the 21 MW DC Honeywell portfolio in upstate New York.

The project is expected to operate as a community solar site, selling credits to subscribers under the NYSERDA NY-Sun Program. PowerBank announced that the 7.01 MW DC/5 MW AC ground-mount community solar project known as SB-14, located in upstate New York, has reached commercial operation.

The project was developed and constructed by PowerBank for Honeywell International Inc, as part of the company’s US$41 million engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreement covering a portfolio of three community solar projects that reach 21 MW DC. The project is constructed on an industrial brownfield owned by Honeywell, which the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation regulates.

Recent updates unveiled that the project has been moved from Honeywell International Inc. to Honeywell Aerospace Inc. following the planned spinoff of Honeywell Aerospace on June 29, 2026.

Understanding the significance of the project for PowerBank’s momentum

The energy industry is continuously evolving, meaning it is essential that companies experiencing great success maintain their momentum. Andrew van Doorn, President and COO of PowerBank, stated the following:

“Reaching commercial operation on SB-14 reflects the strength of our long-standing partnership with Honeywell and the consistent execution our team brings to every project. Developing a community solar facility on a regulated industrial brownfield requires precision at every stage.”

The SB-14 is part of a three-project portfolio that includes SB 13-1 and SB 13-2, with the latest one being the second project from the portfolio to reach commercial operation.

Looking ahead: PowerBank’s influence during the clean energy transition

Community solar projects are usually met with huge excitement because they allow hundreds of renters and homeowners to save money from the electricity that is generated by the project. Through subscribing to a community solar project, a homeowner is able to earn credits on their electric bill every month from their share of the solar energy generated.

AI and digital infrastructure have become a huge reason for increased energy demand, and PowerBank is in a unique position to deliver the speed, scale, and energy independence that the next generation of power users demands. According to reports, PowerBank has a potential development pipeline of over 1 gigawatt and has developed energy projects with a combined capacity of over 100 megawatts.
