The United States has shown a great commitment to diversifying the energy landscape of every state during the clean energy transition, such as with solar and wind projects. New York is arguably one of the busiest states in the country, which makes it even more urgent for the government to ensure that clean electricity is the most used. The powerhouse nation appears to be aware of this fact, as it has had an abundance of energy projects that are situated in the state of New York. With its wealth and access to resources, the United States is able to execute the most groundbreaking initiatives. In the latest occurrence, PowerBank initiated a combined solar and battery storage development in New York.

PowerBank is intent on growing its reputation through the solar initiatives

There are not many companies that have been busier than PowerBank in the 2026 solar energy landscape, which is a testament to the company’s commitment to becoming a pioneer in the solar energy landscape.

PowerBank, formerly known as SolarBank until 2025, is an independent renewable and clean energy project developer and owner that focuses on distributed and community solar projects. As of late, it has shown a strong interest in battery energy solar storage (BESS) while operating primarily in the United States and Canada.

According to reports, it has developed over 100MW of projects and maintains a development pipeline exceeding 1 GW. This amount is guaranteed to increase after news broke that PowerBank Corporation has achieved a new step in its renewable energy expansion strategy with the launch of a hybrid solar and battery storage project in New York. The initiative represents the growing demand for reliable clean energy solutions across the United States.

Breaking down the intention behind combining energy generation and storage

One of the most common trends of 2026 when it comes to wind and solar initiatives is the combination of energy storage and generation. What this means is that facilities are able to generate energy and not use it all at once, but store some of it for when demand is at its highest. Through combining solar generation with energy storage, the company aims to enhance grid stability and efficiency.

Just like every state in the U.S., New York has huge targets, and fortunately, this initiative is consistent with New York State’s ambitious renewable energy targets. PowerBank announced that it has secured a lease agreement for a 5 MW AC distributed solar and battery energy storage system in upstate New York.

The project, known as the NY-Conklin Hill Rd development, reflects one of several hybrid initiatives the company is working on in the region. This kind of hybrid system integrates solar panels with battery storage technology, which is an element that has been fostered by the incorporation of technological innovation into the energy industry.

PowerBank’s NY-Conklin Hill Rd development is coming soon to New York

PowerBank has developed a good reputation in the state of New York to the extent that it is now known for delivering top-notch initiatives. As such, there are huge expectations surrounding this specific facility in the works. According to reports, the project is expected to operate as a community solar facility.

These are also growing in relevance because they allow residents and businesses to subscribe and receive credits on their electricity bills without installing rooftop panels. The development is projected to qualify for multiple incentive programs. These include incentives offered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

Looking ahead at the importance of battery storage integration to facilities

Owing to the impressive number of initiatives coming in 2026, New York has positioned itself as a national leader in community solar. It has already surpassed major capacity milestones and is setting targets of 10 GW of distributed solar and 6 GW of energy storage by 2030.

Battery energy storage systems (BESS) help address the intermittency of renewable energy by storing surplus generation and unleashing it when needed. New York deserves tremendous credit.
