The United States wind energy landscape continues to advance as the nation is aiming to compete with the highest wind energy-producing country in the world, China. Wind energy facilities are built strategically to ensure that the maximum amount of wind energy is generated and that there are no security concerns. In the latter part of 2025, the Trump Administration prematurely halted a number of wind energy projects, which momentarily discouraged developers from investing millions of dollars in massive projects. As of late, Nordex secured more than 480 MW of fresh turbine orders as its U.S. wind business expands.

A general overview of Nordex as a leader in the wind energy sector

Nordex currently has over 11,000 employees and a manufacturing network consisting of factories in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, and the USA. Companies that establish their presence in different countries increase their chances of generating an enormous amount of revenue because they can be appointed to spearhead multiple projects simultaneously.

Nordex’s product portfolio is focused on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW+ classes, which are designed to meet the market requirements of countries with limited available space and regions with restricted grid capacity. The company is from Germany with its legal headquarters in Rostock.

A groundbreaking development: Nordex secures more than 480 MW of fresh turbine orders

According to a press release from Nordex SE, the company has secured three new orders in the United States with a combined capacity of more than 480 MW. The contract consists of the supply of 81 N163/5.X turbines. The names of the customers and projects have not been made public at this moment. The United States is one of the most thriving wind energy producers, which explains why Nordex, a German company, is determined to enhance its portfolio in the nation.

Wind power is Germany’s main renewable electricity source and a center of its Energiewende (energy transition). With over 28,000 turbines generating a huge share of the nation’s power, the sector mixes rapid regulatory acceleration with ongoing debates over local aesthetics, land use, and geographic distribution.

According to reports, the federal government’s Land-Based Wind Energy Strategy is targeting onshore capacity of 160 GW by 2035, needing states to designate an estimated 2% of their land territory for wind energy. Offshore wind in the North Sea and Baltic Sea is scaling quickly under the Offshore Wind Energy Act.

Examining what the 480 MW of fresh turbine orders mean for Nordex

There is great optimism from Nordex officials, as they anticipate what is to come in the future. If the company is able to deliver on the current orders made, it will enhance its overall reputation and be involved in more groundbreaking initiatives. Manav Sharma, who is the CEO of Nordex North America, stated the following:

“These new orders reflect once again the trust our customers place in Nordex and in our ability to deliver and service projects reliably and efficiently. We are grateful for that confidence. Driven by strong customer partnerships, the dedicated execution and service capabilities of our teams, and our robust manufacturing capabilities, we are seeing continued momentum in this region.”

Looking ahead: Understanding how Nordex will impact the U.S. wind sector

The new orders are set to be manufactured in the Nordex Group’s production plant in Iowa, which means there is an opportunity for people in that region to receive employment. The United States wind energy sector generates over 10% of the nation’s electricity, anchored by dominant onshore capacity in Texas and the Midwest. Nordex will be hoping to enter those markets and execute projects there.

Nordex has been at the heart of many wind energy initiatives because of its ability to offer turbines that other companies are incapable of. The Nordex Group has commissioned more than 64 GW of wind power capacity in over 40 markets since 1985 and generated consolidated sales of an estimated EUR 7.6 billion in 2025.
