With New York state continuing to grow in popularity and activity, it is incumbent on the United States government to ensure that clean energy is the most used. This explains why there has been a significant amount of initiatives all coming to New York. Interestingly, PowerBank has consistently featured in the headlines because of its involvement in most of the projects that materialize. As of late, it was unveiled that PowerBank was awarded NYSERDA incentive support for a 7.1 MW solar development in New York.

PowerBank continues to pursue solar initiatives in the United States

Some people have criticized the U.S. Department of Energy for over-reliance on foreign entities in the clean energy transition. Still, for the nation, the most important thing is to establish an extensive portfolio rather than focusing on uplifting local companies. On that note, PowerBank corporation is a Canadian-owned developer of energy projects that generally focuses on solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Canada and the U.S.

The company has enjoyed an immense amount of success in 2026 because most countries are aiming to pair solar generation and storage systems, which is a service that PowerBank offers at the highest level. The Toronto-based company has a long-standing affiliation with the United States, so there is a lot of assurance when it is working on an initiative.

PowerBank initiates combined solar and battery storage development in New York

PowerBank officially secured a major financial boost for one of its latest community solar developments in New York State. According to reports, the company was awarded up to $1.1 million through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) NY-Sun Program for its 7.1 MW Jordan Rd 2 solar project.

Assessing the features of PowerBank’s upcoming Jordan Rd 2 solar project

Situated in Skaneateles Falls, the project represents another step forward in New York’s push to expand distributed renewable energy generation. It also emphasizes PowerBank’s growing role in advancing community solar and battery storage infrastructure across North America. The Jordan Rd 2 project is planned specifically for privately owned brownfield land in Skaneateles Falls.

This is a site that is consistent with New York’s preference for repurposing underused properties for clean energy development. By transforming stagnant industrial land into productive renewable infrastructure, PowerBank is aiming to kill two birds with one stone. The project will allow the company to achieve land-use efficiency and energy transition goals.

The 7.1 MW facility is projected to generate enough electricity to supply approximately 895 homes per year. When operational, it will function as a community solar project, permitting residents and businesses to subscribe to the facility and receive credits on their electricity bills without installing rooftop panels.

PowerBank at the heart of New York’s rapidly growing solar landscape

Not everybody is capable of installing solar panels, which is where PowerBank presents a massive solution. The model of allowing residents and businesses to subscribe is gaining more popularity in New York. This benefits households and organizations that are unable to host on-site solar systems.

Community solar increases access to renewable energy while helping stabilize energy costs for subscribers. The NYSERDA award provides not just funding, but it is also an essential approval of the project’s technical and economic merits. Under the NY-Sun Program, PowerBank is eligible for up to $1,119,618 in incentives for Jordan Rd 2.

The project might also qualify for up to $1.58 million through the Inclusive Community Solar Adder. This is a program designed to expand renewable energy access for low- and moderate-income households.

Looking ahead: When can people expect the Jordan Rd 2 solar project

Reports suggest that the project has already received municipal approvals, as well as brownfield-specific environmental clearance from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. These are key achievements that reduce development risk and progress the project to the next stages of financing, final permitting, and construction.

Programs such as NY-Sun are helpful for the state as they are fostering a decentralized energy system. PowerBank must be commended for its activity.
